Early Life and Background

Oksana Masters was born on June 19, 1989, in Ukraine with a rare medical condition called pseudoachondroplasia, which affected her physical growth. Despite the challenges she faced, Masters found solace in sports and quickly discovered her passion for rowing and running.

Embracing Paralympic Sports

In 2010, Masters decided to leave her orphanage in Ukraine and embark on a new life in the United States. It was during this time that she was introduced to the world of adaptive sports and Paralympic competition.

Paralympic Glory

Masters made her Paralympic debut at the 2012 London Games, where she won a bronze medal in rowing. Since then, she has become one of the most successful Paralympic athletes in history, with a remarkable collection of medals:

  • 9 gold medals (5 in rowing, 4 in cross-country)
  • 3 silver medals (1 in rowing, 2 in cross-country)
  • 2 bronze medals (1 in rowing, 1 in cross-country)

At the 2022 Beijing Winter Paralympics, Masters showcased her exceptional abilities by competing in both rowing and cross-country skiing. She earned a total of five medals, including two golds, a silver, and two bronzes.
