Federal government to strengthen research into antisemitism
Representatives of all parliamentary groups in the Bundestag unanimously adopted a motion on Wednesday (May 19, 2021) to strengthen the fight against antisemitism, terror, hatred and agitation. The motion by the CDU/CSU parliamentary group was supported by the other factions.
Walter Rosenthal of the German Rectors' Conference said that according to a recent report, antisemitic incidents had increased by 15 percent in 2020 compared to the previous year. The federal government is committed to doing everything in its power to further strengthen Jewish life in Germany and to protect Jewish citizens from hatred and violence.
The first National Strategy against Antisemitism and for Jewish Life (NASAS) aims to protect Jews and Jewish institutions from antisemitism and to strengthen Jewish life in Germany. The federal government also wants to further expand research into antisemitism.
