Celtics Win Big, Move Closer to NBA Championship
Strong Defense, Accurate Shooting Lead to Victorious Game 3
Celtics Now 3-0 in Finals, Aiming for Sweep
The Boston Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks 106-99 in Game 3 of the 2024 NBA Finals, taking a commanding 3-0 lead in the series.
The Celtics' victory was fueled by a stifling defense that held the Mavericks to just 38.6% shooting from the field. Boston also benefited from a hot shooting night, knocking down 44.4% of their shots, including 13-of-32 from beyond the arc.
Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 30 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists. Jaylen Brown added 21 points, while Marcus Smart chipped in with 13 points and 11 assists. Luka Dončić paced the Mavericks with 26 points, but shot just 9-of-25 from the field.
The Celtics now have a chance to sweep the Mavericks in Game 4 on Friday. If they are able to do so, they will win their 18th NBA championship, tying them with the Los Angeles Lakers for the most all-time.
Regardless of the outcome of the remaining games, the Celtics have already made a statement in these Finals. They have shown that they are a dominant team with a championship pedigree. They will be a force to be reckoned with for years to come.
