Chelsea inflicted humiliating 4-1 defeat on rivals Tottenham Hotspur
Nicolas Jackson scored a hat-trick as Chelsea put in a dominant display to thrash their rivals Tottenham Hotspur 4-1 in the Premier League.
The result was a huge blow to Tottenham's hopes of winning the title and leaves them seven points behind leaders Manchester City and one point better off than fourth place Chelsea. It was also Tottenham's first defeat of the season in the Premier League.
Chelsea took the lead in the 19th minute when Jackson scored his first goal of the game. The French forward latched onto a pass from Kai Havertz and dinked the ball over the on-rushing Hugo Lloris.
Tottenham thought they had equalised in the 35th minute when Son Heung-min scored, but the goal was ruled out for offside. Chelsea doubled their lead just before half-time when Mason Mount scored from close range after a cross from Reece James.
Tottenham pulled a goal back in the 55th minute when Harry Kane scored from the penalty spot after he was brought down by Thiago Silva. Kane was the scorer for the Spurs jersey for the 267th time. However, Chelsea restored their two-goal lead in the 65th minute when Jackson scored his second goal of the game. The French forward curled a shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.
Jackson completed his hat-trick in the 75th minute when he scored from close range after a pass from Hakim Ziyech. The result was a huge boost for Chelsea's hopes of finishing in the top four and puts them in a strong position to qualify for next season's Champions League.
